"Red Alert" was originally released as a single by the Basement Jaxx from their 1999 debut album "Remedy" and was sampled from a disco/funk track called "Far Beyond" originally recorded by Locksmith in 1980.

The single eventually went on to peak at No.5 on the UK Charts in May 1999, and was the first single by the band to make the top 10 in the UK.

As of July 2009,the Basement Jaxx have had 18 top 40 singles in the UK between 1997 - 2009, with "Rendez-Vu" being their highest charting single when it reached No.4 in August 1999.
