"Man On The Moon" was originally released as a single by R.E.M. from their 1992 album "Automatic For The People" and eventually went on to peak at No.18 on the UK Singles Chart in November 1992.
The song makes numerous references to American comedy genius Andy Kaufman, but is supposedly wriiten about the conspiracy theory that the 1969 moon landing was faked.
As of November 2009, R.E.M. have had 31 top 40 singles in the UK between 1989 - 2005, with "The Great Beyond" being their highest charting single when it reached No.3 in February 2000.
