"Turn Up The Bass" was originally released as a single by Tyree Cooper featuring Kool Rock Steady, and eventually went on to peak at No.12 on the UK Charts in February 1989.
Minor controversy ensued in 1989 when Cooper claimed it was the first hip house record on vinyl, this claim was to be disputed by The Beatmasters who said that "Rok Da House" was the first one back in 1986.
The single would be the only top 40 hit Tyree Cooper would have in the UK, although he had a lot more success in America.
