"Johnny Come Home" was originally written by the Fine Young Cannibals in 1984, and was later released as the debut single by them in May 1985.

The single went on to peak at No.8 in the UK Charts in June 1985, and was the first of 9 top 40 singles the band would have in the UK.

The band officially broke up in 1992, although they did briefly get back together some years later to work on new projects and a UK tour.
