The Teardrop Explodes were formed by Julian Cope in Liverpool in 1978, and continued to play together, under various line-ups, until the band finally disbanded in 1983.

"Reward" was the biggest of the band's three hit singles on the UK Charts, peaking at No.6 in January 1981.

Julian Cope has since gone on to a successful career as a solo artist and writer, and has dismissed recent reports of the original band ever getting back together.
