"Stop The Cavalry" was first written & recorded by Jona Lewie, and was released as a single by him in 1980.
The single hit the No.3 spot on the UK Singles Chart in December 1980, only being kept from No.1 by two re-issued John Lennon songs, who had been murdered on the 8th December.
The song was never intended as a Christmas hit, but the line 'Wish I was at home for Christmas' as well as the brass band arrangements, make it an appropriately styled song to play around Christmas.
