"So Lonely" first appeared on The Police's 1978 debut album Outlandos d'Amour

It was originally released as a single by the band in 1978, but it failed to chart in the UK, and recieved little airplay elsewhere.

The single was then re-released in 1980, this time hitting the No.6 spot on the UK Singles Chart in February 1980.
