The Original Version of "One Step Beyond" was written by Jamaican ska legend Prince Buster, although the song is probably remembered by most people for the version Madness released.
Madness managed to hit the No.7 spot on the UK Charts in November 1979 with the release of the single.
The spoken line, "Don't watch that, watch this" in the intro is also taken from another Prince Buster song, entitled "The Scorcher"
