"Le Freak" was written by Nile Rogers & Bernard Edwards and was released as a single by the soul/disco/funk band "Chic" in 1978.

It hit the No.1 spot on the American Billboard charts, and peaked at No.7 on the UK Charts. In total the single has sold over 4 Million copies.

It was the biggest selling single for Atlantic Records untill 1990 when it was outsold by Madonna's "Vogue"
