"Ram Jam" were an American rock band, probably best remembered for their 1977 hit single, "Black Betty" which peaked at No.7 in the UK Charts in September 1977.

The song was influenced by Leadbelly's Song of the same name.

Bill Bartlett recorded the music for the song, wrote the lyrics, then released it on the band's own label. It was to be a major international hit for them.
