"Autobahn" was written in 1974 by Ralf Hutter and Florian Schneider of German electronic pioneers Kraftwerk.
The original version of "Autobahn" lasted over 22 minutes, so it was edited down to a more modest 4 minutes and released as a single in 1975, giving the band an unexpected top 40 hit in America.
A differently edited version, at just over 3 minutes in duration was released in the UK reaching No.11 on the UK Charts
