It was to be his 4th top 10 hit on the American Billboard singles chart peaking at No.2. In the UK, it fared even better, spending 2 weeks at the top of the UK Charts in December 1974.
The song is now regarded as a disco classic and it's filled many a dancefloor around the world for the past 30 odd years.
