"The Payback" was written by James Brown and Fred Wesley, and was the title track from Brown's 1974 album of the same name.
Released as a two-part single in February 1974, it was the first in an unbroken succession of 3 singles by James Brown to reach No.1 on the American R&B Charts that year.
You've got to love the performance by him in the above video, even the guy who introduce's him is brilliant.
