"I Shot The Sheriff" was written by the legendary Bob Marley and was released as a single from "The Wailers" 4th studio album "Burnin"
The song is told from the point of view of a man who admits to having killed the local sheriff, but claims to be falsely accused of having killed the deputy sheriff.
Eric Clapton also recorded a version that was included on his 1974 album, "461 Ocean Boulevard" and it is the most commercially successful version of the song.
