"Paranoid" was released as a single by Black Sabbath in the UK in July 1970, peaking in the No.2 spot, just being kept from No.1 by Deep Purple's "Black Night"
Guitarist Tony Iommi came up with the main guitar riff initially, but the lyrics had not been written, so vocalist Ozzy Osbourne sang whatever came to mind.
The final version contained different lyrics penned by bassist and lyricist, Geezer Butler.
