"Space Oddity" was written by David Bowie and released as a single by him in 1969.

In the UK, it was used in conjunction with the BBC's coverage of the moon landing, and also promoted via advertisements for the Stylophone.

This exposure finally gave Bowie a hit, reaching No.5 in the UK Charts. In America, the highest chart position it achieved was only No.124.
