Legend has it that John Lennon had discovered a book called "The Psychedelic Experience" which had influenced the writing of the song.

The book describes taking LSD, and contains the lines: "When in doubt, relax, turn off your mind, float downstream"

"Tomorrow Never Knows" is the last track on the "Revolver" album and is noted for being the first track to use ADT (automatic double tracking) a practice that is commonly used by recording engineers and record producers to this day.
