"Eleanor Rigby" was released on the 1966 album Revolver and as a 45rpm single. It was primarily wrote by Paul McCartney with a string quartet arrangement added by legendary producer George Martin.

The single went to No.1 in the UK and peaked at No.11 in America.

"Eleanor Rigby" continued the transformation of The Beatles from a mainly pop-oriented act to a more serious and experimental band.
