"The Sounds Of Silence" or "The Sound Of Silence" as it was later renamed to, was a No.1 hit single for Simon & Garfunkel in America at the tail end of 1965, and is probably the song that propelled them into the mainstream.
Simon & Garfunkel split up not long after the recording of the song and Paul Simon was back to playing solo gigs.
Minutes before he went on stage for one gig he was told that the song had entered the Charts in America, not long after, the duo got back together, and the rest as they say, is history.
