"Dancing In The Street" was a 1964 hit single for Martha & The Vandellas. It is one of Motown's signature songs and is pretty much the group's signature song.

The idea for the song came from watching people on the streets of Detroit in the summer cooling off in water from opened fire hydrants.

It reached No.4 in the UK and No.2 in the U.S.
