"Mr. Sandman" was written by Pat Ballard and was first recorded and released as a single by The Chordettes in late 1954.

The single reached No.1 on the American Billboard Charts, and No.11 on the UK Charts in 1955.

The song has since been included in various movie soundtracks, and is probably one of the most recognised songs of the era.
